Budgeting for Shell
The Shell TCO calculator is an internal web application designed to help Shell commercials calculate the benefits clients would obtain by using Shell products. The brief was to create an app that could replace a standard spreadsheet, which made it difficult for sales members to manage potential and existing clients effectively.
One of the biggest challenges we faced was designing an interface that could handle the complexity of the process and formulas required to calculate the benefits. We knew it would be necessary to present a large amount of data in a clear and organised way, so we focused on creating a strong hierarchy of information using white as the primary background colour and adding small accents of Shell's primary and secondary brand colours.
We designed the app to be used primarily on laptops and tablets, as these were the most likely to be used by Shell sales team members. Our goal was to make the app as user-friendly as possible while ensuring it could handle the large amount of data required to generate accurate calculations.
Our success was a team effort, and the designer I led did a fantastic job. We collaborated closely throughout the project, and their contributions were invaluable in achieving our goals.
In conclusion, I believe that the Shell TCO calculator is a well-designed and user-friendly app that will provide significant benefits to Shell commercials in their day-to-day work.
