Meicube™
One of the challenges we faced when making the Dig Big prototype was creating a range of custom avatars that players could use. These avatars became very popular, and I began to receive requests to make more for family, friends, and colleagues. This has become an ongoing personal project, and we have created more than 80 unique characters.
The prototype's visual experience was 3D. However, the avatars needed to be built in a 2-dimensional format. We created a modular framework in the character design so users could easily swap body parts to make their avatars. Using cubes as our visual reference, we complimented the gameplay to create an immersive experience.
